Show us your talent - Arts Festival

With this talent show the purpose is to bring people together and appreciate the different talents they have to offer. I want people to be able to express themselves using different forms of art, whether this be singing, dancing, acting, rapping, poetry, anything. I want this talent show to highlight the need for more establishments to reflect and cater to these talented individuals. Therefore, the talent show will act as a platform to create this establishment – Formation Arts Centre, which will aim to create a learning environment that will be an invaluable resource to individuals, and the community.

Friday, 29 July 2016 from 12:00 to 17:00

Barnes Wallis Community Centre - 74 Wild Goose Drive , London Borough of Lewisham, SE14 5LL

Lewisham Council consulting on the future use of the Broadway Theatre - residents ideas needed!!

@Gema What a shame it would be to lose the useage of this iconic building, many a night I have spent there from Chas and Dave to comedy nights, perhaps some sort of crowd funding program could be started to at least secure some sort of future. Whatever the outcome we ALL need to make OUR voices heard !

Where is the best place to buy tools in Catford?

I don't know about independent shops but Wickes it pretty good. There is also a Toolstation and Selco Builders Warehouse on Bromley Road as well as Homebase a bit further down.
Further afield there is the B&Q at Bell Green and Screwfix next to Lower Sydenham train station.

Sparkle Ladywell Fields Festival 16th July (Free Entry!)

Sparkle is a free festival put on by the charity For Jimmy, set up in honour of murdered teenager Jimmy Mizen. The festival celebrates the work they do in Jimmy's memory for young people and the community of Lewisham.

Now in its second year at Ladywell Fields, Sparkle takes place outside Ten Thousand Hands cafe. It's FREE entry throughout the day.

The choir of NHS workers from the Lewisham & Greenwich NHS Trust gained a UK Christmas No.1 with their single Bridge Over You. Fresh off the Glastonbury Pyramid Stage, we are lucky enough to have them performing with us at Sparkle.

The Lewisham 3 Peaks Challenge is a sponsored walk to celebrate the free green and beautiful spaces we are lucky to have in Lewisham. The after party is being hosted at Sparkle at the end of the route. A map has been provided and t-shirt designed by Martin Rowson (Guardian Satirical Cartoonist and Lewisham Local) to raise money for For Jimmy & The Stephen Lawrence Charitable Trust.

There will be loads of bands throughout the day with local food, market stalls and an area for children.
